PSY 6910 Clinical Practicum II

This class, which accompanies students’ second semester of clinical externship in the M.A. and Psy.D. programs, focuses on diagnosis, assessment, interventions, supervision, clinical writing and record keeping, case conceptualization and treatment planning, ethics, and self-care. The emphasis in the Practicum series is to monitor and supervise externship experiences, enhance professional development, foster clinical acumen, cultural competence, and written and oral communication skills. This will be accomplished in an incremental manner. That is, with each succeeding practicum course there will be greater expectations with respect to students’ skill levels and professionalism. The practicum class is a place for students to learn, discuss and make mistakes in a non-judgmental, constructive and mutually supportive environment.  Students will be charged an additional Malpractice Liab Ins Fee when enrolling in this course.

This course may be repeated for a total of six credits. Pre/Corequisite(s): Students must be enrolled in either the M.A. or Psy.D. program in the department of psychology.
