POL 6540 Program Evaluation


This course reveiws the major approaches and techniques of program evaluation and expose students to various models of program evaluation as well as the methods for data collection and analysis. Students will explore the use of casual inference in understanding how programs operate and how this can be used to gather crucial information in evaluating policy programs in health policy, housing policy, public safety and so on. We will focus in techniques for gathering data about programs, how to analyze quantitative and qualitative data, how to construct and use surveys and how to compose a credible and organized porogram evaluation in written form. Students will be expected to be able to lay out a credible plan for evaluating programs and to employ appropriate techniques in compiling and analyzing data for the purposes of assessing public policy programs.
