ECSP 3030 Adaptive and Assistive Technologies in Early Childhood Education

This hybrid course explores assistive technologies that enhance the P-3 educational experience for all young learners, including those with disabilities. Technologies and strategies, based on universal design for learning, will be addressed in order to equitably support student learning according to the diversity and ability of each learner. Teacher candidates will explore the assistive technology tools in the assistive technology continuum that are designed to assist learners in achieving academic goals and objectives. Learning to embed assistive technologies into the daily routine and social environment will be a primary focus. In addition, teacher candidates will learn about various augmentative/ alternative communication (AAC) systems, as well as strategies for integrating AAC in school and home-based environments.
