ENG 3220 19th Century European Novel

Studies major continental European fiction against the social, political, and intellectual milieu of nineteenth-century Europe. Within the framework of the romantic, realistic, and the naturalistic literary movements, the novelists may include Lermontov, Manzoni, Balzac, Turgenev, Sand, Stendhal, Hugo, Flaubert, Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, and Zola.
