KORE 3210 Korean Culture and Comm

This course introduces Korean culture and culture-based Korean communication styles. Drawing upon the inter-disciplinary work of cultural studies and pragmatics, it deals with selected topics in Korean culture, thoughts, and practices, and examines the intricacies of commuincation as cultural practices informed by social parameters. Greater emphasis is devoted to modern societal patterns and developments in South Korea, but traditional society is discussed in some depth. (No knowledge of Korean language or culture is presumed.)
