POL 2050 Introduction to Public Policy


This course will introduce students to the institutions, process and critical actors that shape policy-making in the United States. It will examine policymaking and policy controversies at the national, subnational levels and the role and impact of federalism. Throughout the course, students will investigate various models of policymaking and theories of decision making to discern how they affect the distribution of power and outcomes of the policymaking process. Students will learn and apply core theories and concepts related to the study of public policy while examining various policy areas via the case study method.
