SPAN 3020 Caribbean Culture and Literature of the Twentieth Century


A study of the social and literary traditions of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean (Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Cuba) within the context of the Caribbean Basin. Emphasis is given to the major literary and social works from the Modernismo to the present. Representative works by Bosch, Brull, Cabrera Infante, Carpentier, del Cabral, Ferre, Florit, Guillen, Henriquez Urena, Llorens Torres, Lima, Pales Matos, and others. (Cross-listed with LAS 3020 .)
