ANTH 3300 Anthropology of Tourism A cross-cultural, transactional view of tourism as involving an encounter between tourist-generating and host societies that may be perceived as a process or a system. Imageries of pleasure travel as it reflects a symbolic world will be examined. The focus is upon the changes wrought upon the host society and the sociopolitical and cultural consequences of tourism. Course offered every year. Credits: 3.0
