SOC 5610 Sociology of Police Work This course critiques the “myth” of policing as primarily a heroic crime-fighting endeavor, and then examines why such myths are necessary and what function they serve in view of the kind of work police do. Students gain a better understanding of how and why police interact with the public, each other, and the law, by addressing issues of race, gender, and social class. Credits: 3.0
