This course looks at the patterns of moral values, social order, customs and religious beliefs as they are expressed through traditional folklore (narratives, songs, jokes etc.) and modern folklore (mass media, urban cultures). The course also explores common themes and provides a variety of theoretical models for explanation. Some sections of this course are writing intensive. Course offered Fall and Spring Semesters.
