AWS 2610 African, African American, and Caribbean Religions Course describes and analyzes the character of the African, African-American, and Caribbean religious life, both institutionalized and informal. Focus is on the origins, connectedness and divergences of various religious traditions and practices in Africa and in the diaspora (e.g., Santeria, Candomble, Vodun). Attention is also given to the role of religion in the survival and struggles of peoples of African origin. Credits: 3.0
