CODS 2640 Phonetics

This course examines how the sounds of American English are produced, the influence of context on sound production, and suprasegmental aspects of speech. Speech production variation due to dialect and second language learning are considered. The course introduces students to phonetic transcription using the International Phonetic Alphabet and provides opportunities to practice transcription.
