MUSI 3340 Vocal Literature I


This course provides the student exposure to, and knowledge and understanding of vocal literature from 1601 (Giulio Caccini’s Le nuove musiche) to 1828 (the death of Franz Schubert). One of the course’s principal aims is to give students context that supplements their study of music history. This course is required specifically for voice performance majors, and is also open to any other students with a passion for vocal literature and an aptitude for music history. 

It is recommended that students take this course in their second, third, or fourth years of vocal study. Prerequisite(s): Voice major or permission of the Department
