PSY 3250 The Psychology of Couples and Families The course will examine couple and family dynamics and their impact on individual and relational functioning over the lifespan. The course will emphasize the view that couples and families are social systems where individual members are interconnected and interdependent. The concepts of family systems theory will help students understand how family structure, roles, boundaries, and rules influence how couples and families manage major life transitions like forming a couple and becoming parents. In addition, the course will observe how broader social systems like the school or the workplace influence the wellbeing of diverse couples and families.
