PSY 3520 Psycholinguistics This course explores the relationships between psychology and linguistics, the brain areas that are implicated in language processing, the cognitive functions that are involved in psycholinguistic processes, the developmental aspects of psycholinguistics and the methods and techniques that are currently used in this field. In addition to a historical perspective, this course will also discuss the role of multi-cultural issues and the impact of current research findings. This is a technology intensive course that involves training and projects that use speech analysis software, recording equipment and auditory capture, linguistic analysis, and related technological tools for the detection and synthesis of speech and language. Prerequisite(s): PSY 1100 Credits: 3.0
