URBN 4800 Urban Studies Senior Seminar

This course is designed for Urban Science and Society majors in their senior year. It is organized into two parts as follows: The first part of the course will help students reinforce their understanding of urban science as an interdisciplinary field with distinctive foci and subject areas, themes, theoretical frameworks, and methodologies. As a capstone course, it will also draw on students’ past work in the major to hone their critical assessment of scholarship in the field, including world urbanization trends and their social, economic, environmental, and political implications. In the second part of the course, students will review research methodologies in the social science, and then apply these research knowledge and skills they have developed in this and previous courses to generate, develop, and write a research paper on a topic relevant to urban studies, and present the results of the research in written and oral forms.
