LAS 2700 Immigration Policy & Politics The course provides an overview of U.S. immigration policy since the early days of the Republic. It will offer an examination of how racism, sexism, and classism have shaped U.S. immigration and immigrant integration policy and how immigrants have affected the domestic political environment, as well as the issue of undocumented immigration. Students will gain insights into the politics of immigrant integration and exclusion and immigrants’ path to political incorporation. Topics include citizenship issues, gender migration, racial exclusion, the role of federalism and institutions, undocumented immigration, and immigrant integration. This is an UCC Area 4 course - Diversity & Justice. Prerequisite(s): POL 1100 or POL 1200 Credits: 3.0
