MUSI 3590 Advanced Mixing Techniques


This course serves to continue the sound engineering arts student’s investigation into the
art of music mixing. Focus of the course will be on advanced use of technology and its
use in the recording studio environment. The student will explore mixing from a
historical perspective, preparing the mix, advanced use of outboard equipment and plugins, mastering, artist relations, section to section mixing, the influence of musical structure on the mix, and some of the finer and nuanced aspects of applying equalization,
panning, balancing, and editing.

  Prerequisite(s): MUSI 2530   and MUSI 2540  or permission of the department
