PHIL 2420 Philosophy and Cannabis The use of cannabis raises many philosophical questions. As cannabis becomes legally available and more widely and culturally accepted, these questions become more urgent. This course considers the philosophical aspects of cannabis use. Cannabis has been used for purposes that are intoxicative, religious, artistic, medical, wellness, adn spiritual. This course examines the ways these uses raise traditional philosophical questions about truth, meaning, and values such as goodness, justice, beauty, flourishing, and the sacred. It looks at how major ethical theories evaluate types of use. It examines the philosophies behind the cultures that have grown up around each type of use. Credits: 3.0
