COMM 2380 Films of Diversity and Justice

Film, like all forms of art, has reflected, and at times led society’s understanding of diversity. How film has represented this diversity in light of cultural, governmental and societal justice systems will be the focus of this course. Using readings related to non-‐ violent action or non-‐violent struggle, and through weekly screenings, discussions and analysis that illustrate historical struggles for acceptance of diversity and justice, this course will demonstrate how film has both documented and revealed struggles for justice, equity, respect for diversity, and shown a view of a greater world for which we can live, and aspire to live. Prerequisite(s): ENG 1100
