ANTH 3350 Latinx Testimonios

Testimonios emerged in Latin America when indigenous women began to share their personal and collective stories to bring attention to the injustices they were suffering. In this course, testimonial narratives will serve as analytical tools to explore the politics of representation and its intersectional ties to gender, race, class, sexualities among Latinx populations in the United States. While the course title assumes a panethnic label, the course will explore the complexities of Latinx identities, histories, cultures, and experiences across geographies and generations in the United States. It will emphasize the dynamics of voice, witnessing, documenting, translating and power in the production of knowledge to understand whose stories are heard and whose are ignored.
