COMM 3310 Filmmaking II:Cinematography This advanced filmmaking course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the art and craft of filmmaking, and to develop their skills in cinematography, directing, and producing narrative films. Building on Comm 2390 Filmmaking 1: Voice & Vision, and through a combination of hands-on workshops, screenings, and critiques, students will explore advanced topics such as visual design (the relationship between shot selection, composition, lighting and story), and post-production. They will also examine the historical and cultural contexts of filmmaking, and the ethical and social responsibilities of the filmmaker. Students will be charged an additional Communication Lab Fee when enrolling in this course.
Each student will direct, shoot, and edit several short (up to 7 mins.) individual films.
