CS 5070 Advanced Data Science and Analytics


This course provides a comprehensive coverage of data science and its application. Every stage of the CRISP-DM (Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) process, which includes business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and deployment, will be studied. Students will learn the concepts of data warehousing, multi-dimensional data cubes, and OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) technologies. The topics of analytical techniques of association, classification, clustering, and anomaly detection in data mining and machine learning will be covered. Ethical and security issues in data science will be introduced. Advanced CS 5070 content: Advanced machine learning techniques in neural networks and deep learning will be introduced. Big data analytics using HPC (High-Performance Computing) will also be covered.
