COMM 2340 Film As A Medium

Film As a Medium is an introductory course designed to explore film as art and as language. By examining the formal elements of images and sound within the context of a narrative structure, we will explore how a filmmaker communicates with an audience. What is the filmmaker trying to say? What do they mean? As we pay close attention to everything within the frame (the specific choices made by a filmmaker), we will improve our visual literacy (the ability to “read” images).

UCC Area E (Communication) Course Objectives: Explore fundamental principles and strategies of communication expression and reception across different contexts and modes.
