DIS 1010 Rethinking Disability Disability is a natural part of the human experience, and its impact is something that everyone may encounter at some point throughout their life. This course invites students to broaden their understanding of the lived experiences of individuals with disabilities, while also exploring the concept of well-being within the context of disability. Students will examine what it means to live a “well-lived life” through the perspectives of individuals with disabilities who are actively involved in their communities, pursuing their passions, maintaining personal health, and embracing their disability as part of their identity, all while navigating challenges and accessing the supports they need.
UCC Area A (Well-Being): This course provides students with the core skills and knowledge for managing personal well-being, such as physical, mental, emotional, ethical, social, academic, and/or financial factors. Credits: 3.0
