ENV 1150 General Geology


This course explores the origin and evolution of the Earth, focusing on the rocks, minerals, and geological processes that continuously shape our planet. It also examines the development of life-plants, animals, and their ecosystems-through geological time, while highlighting the role of geology in shaping human environments. Laboratory sessions and field trips provide hands-on experience with rocks, minerals, fossils, maps, and landscape features. The course consists of a three-hour lecture with discussions and a two-and-a-half-hour hands-on lab.

UCC Area H (Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Natural Sciences) Course Objectives: Explore and engage in processes, techniques, and strategies that foster curiosity, promote inquiry, and yield well-reasoned conclusions and solutions concerning humans and the world they live in. Students will be charged an additional Env Science Lab Fee when enrolling in this course.
