MUSI 1150 Understanding Music The course will introduce students to music as a fundamental creative aspect of human expression from the past to the present day. Engaging in critical listening and analysis, students will examine how the elements of music are utilized as part of the creative process in existing music, and will use those elements to develop their own individual and/or collaborative music projects. Basic skills and knowledge for analog and digital music composition tools (e.g., Sound Trap, Audacity) are built into the course.
UCC Area D (Creativity) Course Objectives: Explore creativity as a fundamental aspect of human expression; analyze, synthesize, and develop creative projects reflecting an understanding and appreciation of the creative process. Credits: 3.0
