SOC 1020 Debating Contemporary Social Issues This course equips students to discuss the issues of the day through debate and critical discussion. Students will explore inequality across class, race, and gender, addressing topics like poverty alleviation, climate change, the criminal justice system, educational access, and health care disparities. They will engage with perspectives of leading thinkers, past and present. Through structured debates, students will enhance their analytical and rhetorical skills, fostering a deeper understanding of the social fabric and proactive problem-solving.
