ANTH 1300 Becoming and Being Human

This introductory anthropology course asks students to critically assess what it means to be human in the broadest sense through an integrated study of culture, archaeology, and biology. While identifying and acknowledging differences, students will develop an appreciation for the unity of modern humans and recognize our interdependent connection with the natural world and each other. This “anthropological perspective” will equip students to understand and address the many complex issues that affect individuals and groups living in modern societies.

UCC Area G (Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Behavioral & Social Sciences) Course Objectives: Explore and engage in processes, techniques, and strategies that foster curiosity, promote inquiry, and yield well-reasoned conclusions and solutions concerning humans and the world they live in.
