Students will critically examine major theoretical perspectives, comparing historical and contemporary approaches to understanding development. Through a variety of research methods, including observations, interviews, and case studies, students will explore cognitive, familial, and linguistic factors that influence self-esteem, self-efficacy, self-regulation and learning in school contexts. The course also emphasizes the relationship between theoretical knowledge and practical instructional decision-making. Students will evaluate differing theoretical perspectives and their implications for current educational practices.
