HIST 2300 Digital Detectives: Investigating the Past


What does it mean to study history in today’s digital world? What digital sources, practices, and skills are available to investigate the past? In this course, students will utilize a variety of digital platforms, visualizations, repositories, AI tools, and other resources to explore innovations in historical research, interpretation, and presentation methods. The course will focus on historical case studies such as significant events, criminal trials, counter-factual contingencies, and/or unsettled mysteries to show how digital tools can assist in researching, interpreting, and presenting informative and inclusive narratives about the past.
