SPAN 2320 Survey of Latin American Literature


This course is a comprehensive exploration of Latin American and Caribbean literature from the fifteenth century to the present. The focus is on major writers and literary trends. Students will be introduced to Latin American poetry, narrative, theater, short stories and essays; to the contributions and tendencies of different regions and countries; to the history of the Latin American literary landscape in the context of global interactions; and to forms of dialogue between Latin America literary production and other forms of representing and questioning the world.
